Ephesians chapter 6
Summary:
We are in a war, good against evil. We can fight these battles with spiritual weapons. We can affect the way things happen in the world by praying. The devil comes to seek and destroy, how do we fight these powers of darkness? We can find the spiritual weapons in Ephesians 6 v 10-19
1) Be strong in the Lord, we are joint heirs in Christ. We can be strong in the knowledge that we have been saved. We can also be strong in prayer and what we know about God. If we humble ourselves in God, he will exalt us.
2) He asks us to stand. We should follow Gods standards in this world. When fiery darts fly, when evil comes, when people put us down we can stand our ground. Stay with what the gospel says.
3) Be truthful. Can we tell the truth when the pressure is on. Jeremiah says there is no one who is good no not one. there are people who are living as if Jesus isn't going to return again.
4) Put on the breastplate of righteousness. Do what is right and do what is good.
5) We are urged to take the gospel wherever we go. People can not want to come to church and so we must go "fishing" we must keep fishing for men and God will do the work.
6) Use your shield of faith. Don't be with doubt, have faith that when we put the gospel into practice that it does work. The devil says don't read, don't pray or go to church but God says do it now. Do we really know we are saved or do we just think we are saved?
7) Take up the sword of the spirit. This is the Word of God, an offensive weapon
8) Pray for utterance to get the gospel out. God knows the people who will be saved but we must still work. Be about the Fathers business and pray for openings. We are not all preachers but we are all witnesses. We can pray for boldness in speaking about God. Through prayer and obedience we can be able to talk about the gospel
