In life we can go through big issues, these problems can seem to go on forever. In the bible David had big problems too, he fought Goliath and he was on the run from Saul who was trying to kill him. David had his problems and he wrote some of the psalms when he was going through great struggles. David was honest in his psalms. Our prayers are to be honest after all God knows us inside out. David comes to the Lord as he is and asks him how long will his problems continue.
1) David felt forgotten. He felt that God had given up on him but it is an impossibility for God to forget his people. Gods compassion is greater than a mothers love for her child, The Lord has engraved us on the palm of his hands.
2) David felt forsaken. Even Jesus on the cross felt forsaken. The Lord himself has said "I will never leave you nor forsake you"
3) David felt frustrated. He prays but nothing seems to get any better
4) David feels a failure. He wrestles with his thoughts
David trusts in Gods unfailing love and begins to see God in his trials. When we are down this is when we need to see God first. When we feel down we can want to avoid church but the church is a group of people who love the Lord and want to walk with us through our trials. As David prays he realises that God is unfailing, he brings salvation and is always good. We can resolve to trust our great God whatever our situation. Our circumstances in life can change but God stays the same.
